resented it enough to be reckless. hated himself enough to be careless. eventually - eventually whatever luck kept him alive this long was going to run out, and he wasn't going to get up the next time someone smashed him into the ground. he knew this. they all had to know this. but he'd presented himself as immortal, untouchable, just as inhuman as the rest of them.
cyborg scrapes him up from the pavement. puts in a call to the league (damian's hurt) and does what he can to keep the kid going (it's bad, it's real bad) long enough to get him back up to the watchtower. the med systems are down, the whole thing is in shambles, batman's latest attack hadn't taken into account how angry dick grayson's friends would be based on his biased version of events. how some of them didn't take so kindly to his no kill policy. that a warrior race would believe that an eye for an eye was the only way to set things right.
